    The Case of the Broken Telescope. 🕵🏼‍♀️

    Hello, comrades!

    Today, we are launching a series of articles detailing our very first project: repairing a telescope tripod mount. We don’t roll the easy way, so we’re taking a slightly unconventional approach to this task. Sure, we could just measure the intact part and recreate the model from those dimensions, but we are going to do things a bit differently.

    Along the way, you’ll get a closer look at my personal approach to 3D modeling and the techniques I use.

    A dark night fell over the city. Stars burned in the sky like the eyes of mythical creatures hidden within the canopy of a fairytale forest. I was alone in my workshop office when a sudden knock came at the door…

    That’s how a great detective novel might begin. Instead, it was the beginning of our very first telescope repair case using additive manufacturing. A broken Levenhuk Skyline 70×700 AZ telescope had just landed on our desk.

    Sure, reverse-engineering the broken part in SolidWorks (or any other CAD software) wouldn’t be a massive challenge, and we’ll definitely get to that. But first… we are going to fully scan the intact section using a Creality Raptor 3D scanner! I bet you’re intrigued.

    Hey friends! I’m absolutely thrilled to welcome you to puraru.ru.

    Think of this site as my personal creative hub and portfolio, where I’ll be sharing my journey through industrial design, reverse engineering, and additive manufacturing. For now, we’ll be focusing mostly on FDM printing, but who knows? We might explore other exciting technologies together down the road.

    First things first, let me introduce myself. My name is Yalokin, and I work as a technical illustrator. To give you a quick mental picture of what I do: you know those clean, easy-to-follow diagrams in the user manuals of your favorite gadgets? Yep, crafting those illustrations is exactly my day job.

    So, why 3D printing? The answer is simple: it’s the most rewarding way to turn ideas from sketches on paper or thoughts in your head into something you can actually hold in your hands. And guess what? You don’t need a formal engineering degree for this. As humans, we all have an intuitive understanding of the physical world. Even when we pick up a tool we’ve never seen before, our anatomy and physiology guide us on how to use it.

    Oh yes, folks, we’re going to philosophize just a little bit here about design, ergonomics, and the everyday objects around us.
